US Together

As part of the third phase of the UUSC Syrian refugee response, this grant supports the resettlement of Syrian refugees in Toledo, Ohio, home to a large Syrian population. The grant will support the economic integration of refugees in order for them to become independent of government assistance and to successfully integrate into the local society. The grant includes training on financial literacy, homelessness prevention and employment readiness education in a culturally competent and trauma-informed way. Refugees are closely mentored in the early months of their arrival to help them adapt to their new environment. in conjunction with the financial literacy training, staff help refugees save money to pay for essential items by setting up Individual Development Accounts (IDA), which are matched dollar for dollar.
