One Village Transformed in Salavan

Five villages will become aware of and responsive to the needs and opportunities in their villages. These villages are in the poorest province within Laos, so poverty graduation will be a focus for the most vulnerable based on credit, improving livelihoods, and creating a social safety net. Sustainable governance will be built through participative village planning and monitoring, capacity building of Village Development Committees, and the action learning of community small groups as they implement their own seed projects. Children and youth will be empowered to be active citizens through educational improvement, youth and children’s clubs, and service learning initiatives that will enable them to be active change agents in their community. At the end of three years, the communities will share lessons and help neighboring villages apply this approach to transformational development.
