Planning for 2019-20 Season
Water for South Sudan is able to provide services during South Sudan's dry season by drilling new wells, rehabilitating older wells, and providing hygiene education from December through May. Our team will use the time during the wet season (approximately June through November) to assess and repair equipment and vehicles, debrief on the completed season, and prepare for the upcoming season. Water for South Sudan will be rolling out a second drilling team in the 2019-20 season in addition to our rehabilitation team, which will enable us to reach more remote areas in need of clean water and hygiene training. Our Country Director and Associate Country Director will also travel to the U.S. to meet with board members and staff, and to assist in fundraising activities.
Water for South Sudan operations staff will be assessing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles and drilling equipment in addition to acquiring four trucks. They will also visit existing well sites to monitor and evaluate their status. In addition, both U.S. and South Sudan staff will prioritize goals and prepare plans for the upcoming 2019-20 season.
To date, Water for South Sudan has drilled 391 new wells; completed 119 well rehabilitations; given 330 hygiene education trainings; and completed one sanitation project--a latrine at the Zogolona Primary School.
