Northern Shan Child Nutrition Prevention

Within communities, pregnant women and children under 5 are among the most vulnerable as they need additional nutrients for their (child’s) growth and development. Maintaining good nutrition protects people from illness and is essential for their immunity. To prevent an increase of acute malnutrition among pregnant women and children under 5, the project aims to provide supplementary feeding to all pregnant women and all children 6 to 59 months of an additional highly nutritious food package. To ensure the safety of our staff and of people in the community, the project will adapt according to the government and nutrition working group guidelines. The distribution will be set up in a way to allow sufficient distance between people. At the arrival of each group, the community health workers will share basic health and nutrition messages, including on COVID-19, maternal health and nutrition and child health and nutrition.
